Virtual Quilt Show: Sharron Shimbel

Sharron Shimbel, My Decade of Trees
This quilt of mine is an adaption of a Piecemakers' Calendar from 2002. I call it “My Decade of Trees”, as that’s how long it took me to finish it. The original pattern is quite different with the on-point blocks set with crazy quilting on the corners, and surrounding a large medallion block of a tree in all four seasons. Each block also included an animal and, in a couple, there were buildings, which I didn’t like as they seemed out of proportion. I used a lot more silk ribbon and embroidery in the blocks and changed a few small details but the best decision I made was to ask Jacki from Brindabella Quilting to machine quilt it for me; she has done a magnificent job.

Love the adaption of the original quilt which I really loved and was a trifle large.
Congratulations.
