Vic SCQuilters Carrum Downs Get Together

The next Meeting of the Carrum Downs SCQuilters Group is on Wednesday February 2nd from 10am – please note our new start time – can’t wait to see faces old and new.

Christmas time again!

It hardly seems possible but we're almost at Christmas again!

Our groups are having their end of year parties and what a lovely time they've been having!

The Sydney SCQuilters had their last 2015 meeting on Dec 5 and as usual, there were all kinds of high jinks. Pennie has reported in full on their blog, of course! Annie sent around a tin to collect Gold Coins for the Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia Foundation and she reports that $100.00 was collected which will buy:-
2 x Dress Nightgown and Bedding - $60.00
20 x Pairs of Rubber Slippers for patients with no shoes - $40.00

They had a lot of fun with Pennie's infamous Christmas Quiz and she's kindly listed the questions and answers on the blog, for our information.

And of course, there was show and tell. This beautiful Christmas quilt was made by Heather. Isn't it gorgeous?

Because it is our Christmas extravaganza it is not a BYO lunch day.

You are to bring the following:

A small plate of Christmas goodies to share to lunch

A home-made KK gift to swap (or if you bring a note: pattern WITH kit)

Wear something Christmassy (can be small and subtle or large and loud)

A spare pen for our quiz

A decoration we can put around the room if you have one - I am bringing the
tree, table cloth etc.

Some show and tell of course!

There will be surprises and door prizes and lots of fun.

Geelong SCQuilters gathering, Victoria

The next Geelong SCQuilters get-together is this coming Saturday!

The gatherings are always held on the 5th Saturday of the month, so they only happen four or five times a year.

From 9.30am til everyone goes home.

Brisbane SCQuilters change of meeting

Due to the Craft and Quilt Fair being held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre South Bank from 9am to 4:30pm, there will be no October meeting of Brisbane SCQuilters at The Salisbury Hotel this month.

Instead, there will be set times to meet at the Craft & Quilt Fair on Saturday 10th October.

Quilting at the Pub

Just like the Sydney Scquilters, we here in Brisbane also do a little
Quilting at the Pub.

So if you're in Brisbane and would like to get together with a lovely bunch
of Scquilters at The Salisbury Hotel this Saturday 12th September starting
at around 10am and continuing until about 3pm.

Great meals, reasonable prices all spent with fabulous company. Our show

"The food ‘Porn’ posted from the Blue Gum by the Sydney Scquilters GTG group has finally done us in……every month we would discuss how envious we were, as we tucked into our packed lunch brought from home! In December a small group scoped out the Salisbury Hotel down the road from the Quilters Store and found the meals and dining room to be suitable for our monthly GTG’s and the Manager was very helpful and accommodating."

A Gift to Recycle and Swap...
One that you already have and wish to recycle. (It¹s become a tradition of
the Sydney SCQuilters to swap unwanted gifts, the weirder the better but
something that is in good condition that you have received, never used and
is too good to throw out! Some very weird and wonderful gifts have surfaced
over the years, but some treasures have also surfaced as well... And
continue to surface.)
Sewing and Show and Tell...

Carrum Downs group meeting

Our Carrum Downs girls had another busy face-to-face meeting in November, which was also their AGM. (SCQuilters is a virtual entity but our real world entities have to follow the rules for groups!) A big thank you goes to Ramona who has been keeping this group (mostly) on the straight and narrow for ages! She hands the baton of group management over to Simone and the two Marilyns.

Their next meeting is their Christmas/end of year meeting on Wednesday December the 3rd.
Helen says: "It will be our “All singing, all dancing Christmas extravaganza”; CDs from the official “Evans Daggy Christmas Collection” will be played for your listening pleasure.
A Christmas quiz may take place. There may be a special prize for the Christmas quiz, which may take place."

As well as normal show and tell, members will bring Christmas themed show and tell – it can be a little decoration or a huge quilt – anything you have made especially for Christmas.
There will be a Kris Kringle pressie swap – a gift of around $15 –$20, home made or purchased.

Please bring a small plate of food to share for the special lunch.  If anyone has some special Christmas decorations, please bring them along on the day.

Sounds like they'll have a fun time as always!

Carrum Downs SCQuilters

After a short gap, the Carrum Downs group blog is underway again, with details of their May and July meetings.

In May they held their Biggest Morning Tea, to raise money for Ovarian Cancer.

July included a Big O morning tea for those members celebrating significant birthday. Lots of interesting hand work going on, plus fabulous show and tell.
